Putin’s spox: Russia’s inflation to return to target range soon
VLADIVOSTOK, Sep 2 (PRIME) -- There are reasons to believe that Russia’s inflation will return to the target level soon, President Vladimir Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Thursday during the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).
“Inflation has actually grown. At the same time, there are reasons to be sure that inflation in the foreseeable future will return to the initial framework thanks to the measures that the central bank and the government are taking,” he said.
The government is taking swift action, and it allows the authorities to be sure that they will maintain macroeconomic stability in spite of the pricegrowth all around the world. It is impossible to avoid higher inflation completely as the global situation has an impact on the domestic market, he said.
Putin is monitoring the inflation situation personally, he is discussing it with the government regularly, Peskov added.
